Some people are lucky enough to dream about their wedding day for nearly a decade. Two of those lucky people are Taryn and Marcus Couch. The Couch Wedding at Glass Hill in Bedford, VA was a dream come true and we were thrilled to capture it.
Before the Wedding: Meeting Each Other and Picking a Venue
Taryn and Marcus met as teenagers when they were in the same youth group at church in Florida. Flash forward almost a decade, they were engaged and looking for a wedding venue near their new home in Lynchburg, VA. Glass Hill Venue in Bedford, VA was their top pick for several reasons.
They share, “With the gorgeous lodge and the incredible mountain views, we decided to have our wedding there! The bridal suite was a highlight, but the view itself was the best part. Most of our wedding guests were from Florida, so it was fun to have a place they enjoyed visiting too!”
Finding a Photographer: Joy Shots Photography
The Couch’s had a longstanding relationship with Erika at Joy Shots Photography before their wedding. She’d done a couple’s shoot for them in the fall of 2020. They share that they “loved her work, timeless editing style, and the way she interacts with her clients.”
They went on to explain that, “We immediately knew we needed to book Erika for our wedding, and even went on to have four other shoots with her for other occasions! We are big fans of Joy Shots Photography!”
Working together frequently meant we felt like old friends by the time it was wedding day!
Their Big Day: Favorite Memories and Vendors
With the venue and photographer booked, they found the rest of their vendors and settled in to make lifelong memories on their big day. Taryn and Marcus share the same favorite memories of the ceremony itself, since they carefully planned it to include all the elements that were important to them.
Their families sat on opposite sides, allowing their mothers to clearly see their faces. The best friend of Taryn’s late father welcomed everyone to the ceremony. Marcus’s dad officiated– and made it through most of the ceremony without crying! Friends provided live music for a special time of worship and the newlyweds exited the ceremony with an elegant dip. They share that they also, “really loved the moments right after the ceremony, the reception entrance, sunset, and the sendoff too!”
A crowd of vendors made those memories possible. We listed them below so you can easily find them for your big day!
