Before the Wedding: How They Met
Emily and Will Cloud met at a dinner for the cast and crew of a Bright Star production. Since there were less dinner guests than expected, they ate and got to know each other well. They continued to meet for coffee and gaming sessions, and according to them, “the rest is history.”
Wedding Planning: How They Picked the Venue and Photographer
As they created that history together, they decided to get married and started wedding planning. Two of their most important decisions were their venue and photographer. They learned about Cedar Oaks Farm in Bedford, VA when it was still under construction, but fell in love with the incredible mountain view. The reception area inside the barn also offered “a very elegant vibe, which we loved.”
Their wedding planner suggested Joy Shots Photography. After looking through the bright, colorful images available on social media and meeting with Erika, they felt “super comfortable and at ease” and booked her.
Their Big Day: Favorite Memories and Advice
After booking all their vendors and completing the planning process, their big day arrived. Will’s two favorite memories from their wedding were singing ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” with guests before the big send-off and his private last dance with Emily. Emily’s favorite memories overlap with his, but also include the moments where they were alone together reflecting on their big day.
Their advice for other couples? “We are so glad we did a first look!” They said “it helped with nerves” and “made the timeline more smooth for our party and guests.”
